Damauli / The process has begun for acquiring land for the construction of the 400 kV transmission line being operated under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact.
Under the project being run jointly by the Government of Nepal and the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA-Nepal), the transmission line will be constructed from Ratamate to new Damauli substation and from new Damauli substation to new Butwal substation, and the land acquisition process has started at various local levels of Tanahun district along the project site, it has been said.
The district administration office, Tanahun on 29 August, 2023 issued a notice informing the launch of the land acquisition process for the project. The land acquisition process took place in line with Clause 9 (1) of the Land Acquisition Act, said assistant Chief District Officer Kashiram Gaire.
For the project, the lands at Aanbukhaireni, Bandipur, Rishing Rural Municipality and Byas Municipality, will be acquired. Similarly, trees in forests, houses and huts will be removed, he added.
In case of houses, huts, and other structures and trees lying in the land to be acquired for the project, the concerned persons can apply to the administration office for compensation along with required evidence and documents within 21 days of the publication of the notice, he said.
If there is any valid reason for not acquiring the land, one in line with the Clause 11 of the Act can file a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Office along with specific reasons for the same within seven days of the publication of the notice excluding the time spent on the journey, he said.
