Kathmandu / Trans Nepal Freight Services JV, selected from international competition for the operation of Chobhar Dry Port, has made agreement with Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee today.
Registering Trans Nepal TRS Pvt Ltd, Trans Nepal Freight Services JV has made agreement with the Committee to share minimum Rs 28.8 million rent and charge for five years as per the rule.
According to the agreement signed today, the Company would operate and manage Chobhar Dry Port from this December 15.
Company Director Yubak Dangol and Managing Director of the Operating Company, Mukesh Kumar Rathi, signed the contract agreement in presence of Committee Executive Director, Ashish Gajurel.
The Committee had called for international tender on July 24 for the operation and management of Terminal (dry port and integrated check post, and container freight station) under the Committee. The Committee is a regulatory body as per the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee (formation) Order, 2054.
On the occasion, Executive Director Gajurel shared that the commercial use of Chobhar Dry Port has increased within 20 months of its operation and the government will get more revenue if the operation and management of dry port is given to private sector.
It was necessary to make road section from the main gate of Laboratory Higher Secondary School, Kirtipur, to Chobhar Dry Port of four-lane and to complete the construction of Nijgadh-Kathmandu fast track soon.
Similarly, Managing Director Rathi from the operating company expressed the belief that the support received earlier from other government bodies and stakeholders including Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee would also be received for the effective operation and management of the dry port in coming days.
